Halloween in Japan is primarily for adults, an excuse to party. Once in awhile I’ll hear that a street has arranged to have trick-or-treating for the kids; this is usually the result of a lot of effort on the part of one or more American residents. And the trick-or-treating I’ve seen is always in the daytime, which just makes me feel sad.
