I was recently asked “so, you’re just a Blogger?”. Just a girl who decided to go for it shirt. I get it, it’s confusing and I get asked this question a lot – but not in this context but more from a place of curiosity and enthusiasm. Because for the record I’m pretty sure there are others out there who would like to go to events, write about the things that they love and get to work with brands that inspire them oh – and free stuff – but I digress. So yes, I suppose I am just a Blogger. But in the same breath, I should mention that I am also JUST a Girl who decided to totally go for it. A year ago questions like this would have rattled me a bit. More so because a year ago I didn’t really know who I was or what I was doing.
Just A Girl Who Decided To Go For It
I had gotten out a giant eraser and wiped out all of the aspects of my life that were no longer serving me. So that I could start to pencil in things that did. That’s the great thing about using a pencil. It gives you the ability to change things up as you need to. But here I am a year later still not 100% sure of where I am going to take this whole “Blog” thing.
But what I do know is that it fuels me with more drive, ambition, excitement, happiness, and fullness. That I ever felt receiving a corporate paycheque, title, and that oh-so-glamourous travel. Yep, it’s true. I think what made me frustrated with this conversation was a few things. That clearly my “title wound” still not totally healed. And the judgment – like salt – that poured on it was starting to sting.

That it was an example of how much work we still have to do in supporting one another as women, and as cheerleaders. I mean – fill in the “Blogger” part with any other title: Nurse, Teacher, Executive Assistant, Chef, Entrepreneur, Mom – and the list goes on and on. Saying “JUST a” belittles someone no matter what the context – plain and simple. In my humble opinion.
I think it also gives WAY too much power to the “title” versus. What someone actually gets out of doing their job in terms of experience and feelings And I mean seriously. You should know by now how I feel about titles This relentless intention still exists among women – weak attempts to bring down one another in an attempt to raise ourselves up. So what is it? When you find yourself in a situation when you feel like you want to bring someone else down.

These are the moments of opportunity to tune in. Just a girl who decided to go for it shirt. And figure out what it is about that person that bothers you, puts you off. Whatever it is that you so convinced you don’t agree with. They are a mirror. You are drawn to them and they bother you. Because there is something inside of you that needs some attention. It’s your job to figure out what it is.
Question it and then do the work Watch your intention, your judgment, and your words. To others and yourself. Because they might be validating the limiting beliefs one might have. I am of the opposite belief – that by raising one another up, we also raise yourself up. It’s either a win-win or lose-lose situation.
