Jay weighs in at just about 100 lbs. at just under 1 yr.old. Hence the “puppy”comment earlier. Mr. Adams and I are both very responsible dog owners. Jay is as friendly a dog as my chihuahua Sofie is. Neither barks, or chews on apartment walls and doors. Both readily accept hugs, ear scratches, and occasional treats from the other tenants. Both are very content with the amount of exercise we both give them, especially since we don’t have a fenced yard and rely on us two senior citizens to walk them daily. In Minnesota. In the considerable cold. And snow. My Sofie, as a rule, goes at least around the block, at least once a day. In summer and spring, Sofie usually gets 2 walks a day. Jay gets considerably more walking time and goes to the park regularly. We don’t walk them together since Jay intimidates the living hell out of Sofia, just by his sheer size. When you have a dog of any size it is a really big responsibility. If properly cared for and exercised, most any dog is ok for apts. But you must care for them appropriately. Otherwise, you are doing a disservice to a dog that really needs more than a small apartment can offer. Please think and choose your dog carefully and assess your own responsibilities accordingly. Some it took six months or so for them to finally trust me. I would start with just pets on there head. It would progress slowly until they were sleeping in my bed and rolling over for belly rubs.
