Can’t say with any conviction, but I would put good money on the upper crust of society not wanting their offspring to mix in with the commoners and spoil the bloodlines. Personally, I’ve had purebred dogs and there’s something inherently wrong with all of them, some hereditary disease. They usually die early than the mutts, not able to adapt to the changing environment. So you can try to keep up with the Jones or whichever family bloodline you’re trying to maintain.
