That’s a very well-written review – thanks for that. Sanderson sisters cottage est.1693 come little children Salem mass shirt. I think I’ll still read this if it ends up on Kindle Unlimited’s list at some point (space is a weakness of mine), but I appreciate the warning to steer clear of this while it still has a dollar-value attached to it. I’m an example of this – I read quite a variety of books but what sci-fi I do read tends to be older. Artemis may be the only brand new sci-fi book I’ve read in the last year.
Is the name of Sanderson helping or hurting you?
It is almost weird how much people “old” sci-fi considering the forward looking nature of it all, almost ironic even. It’s because these types of contests always become popularity contests. It’s hard to take any results in them seriously when the voting is done by a ton of people who have each read a few of the qualifying books each. You are much better off with a handful of people who have read a ton of the qualified books. To provide a clear example of this, I’ll just use myself: I only read 2 books published in 2017, but I liked both of them, so I voted on both of them. I am an awful data point. But I am indicative of the overwhelming majority of voters here. dollar value is so true, especially if you look at the Goodreads 2017 winner for Fantasy. I was mad, let’s just leave it at that. It’s like people who barely read just vote for the thing they recognize

You’re right, as long as people realise it’s a popularity thing then it’s ok. Same with a lot of awards, the majority of people won’t have read; seen; been involved with every single possible nominee so it’s always likely whichever has been most commonly interacted with will win. Right. And there was no foreshadowing to Jazz having any Chemistry knowledge or anything like that so every time she threw out some smart sounding thing to fix a problem just felt like a Deus Ex Machina. I loved Borne. That book just stuck with me. Borne’s youthful optimism was just a shining light in such a bleak setting. You don’t usually get that in post-apocalyptic books. I just hated the almost stream of consciousness style in it. The story wasn’t bad but that narrative style took me out of it for some reason.

Yeah, I’d stay away from Borne if I were you; Sanderson sisters cottage est.1693 come little children Salem mass shirt.probably just stay away from Jeff Vandermeer in general. Some people are like that with certain authors. I generally don’t like Neil Gaiman. I always like the idea of his novels but the execution always falls flat for me. Side note, I’ve only ever read American Gods by Gaiman and boy does that book suddenly go fucking flat. The last third of that book is godawful. I remember finishing it and literally going “What the fuck?” out loud.
I have made T-shirts since 2014. And I have experience in creating large t-shirts like Merch, Sunfrog, Teespring, Teechip ...
And bring to people the trendy T-shirt design. And sometimes the T-shirts are designed by myself. Cool in some way
