Organic posts are a great way to start, but paid ads let you reach the exact audience you’ve chosen as fast as you want. The catch is that ads cost money, so you need one number before you spend anything: your earnings per click.
New to the program? Start with how the Picturestees affiliate program works and how to pick a niche.
Know your EPC before you spend
EPC (earnings per click) is your commission divided by your clicks. It tells you the most you can pay for a click and still break even.
Example: your collection link gets 200 clicks and 4 orders, with an average of $25 in products per order. At 25% commission that’s 4 × $6.25 = $25 earned. Divide $25 by 200 clicks and you get an EPC of about $0.12. If your ads cost more than about $0.12 per click, you’re losing money on that audience. If they cost less, you’re in profit.
The Traffic sources table in your affiliate dashboard shows clicks, orders and commission per sub-ID, so you can work out EPC for each ad set.
Meta ads (Facebook and Instagram)
- Send traffic to a collection, not the homepage. A shopper who clicked an ad about dog mom gifts should land on dog mom gifts.
- Target interests that match the niche: breeds, professions, hobbies, new parents and grandparents.
- Start small. Run a modest daily budget per ad set until you have enough clicks to judge it.
- Tag each ad set with its own sub-ID, for example
sub=fb_dogmom_v1andsub=fb_dogmom_v2, so you can compare them. - Show the personalization in the creative. A real name or pet photo on the product is the hook.
- Test 3–4 creatives and keep the winner.
Google Search ads
- Bid on long-tail gift searches such as “personalized dog mom shirt,” “custom grandpa mug” or “matching family christmas shirts.” People searching those phrases are ready to buy.
- Build one ad group per niche and point it at the matching product or collection.
- Add negative keywords like “free,” “template” or “DIY” to filter out clicks that won’t buy.
What’s not allowed
- Bidding on “Picturestees” or close variations as a keyword.
- Using our name in your ad account, page name or display URL, or presenting yourself as Picturestees.
- Misleading claims about prices, discounts or delivery dates. Each product page shows its own production and shipping information, so point people there instead of promising dates.
Breaking these rules can get your account suspended and your related commissions voided. The full list is on the affiliate program page.
Measure, cut, then scale
- Give each ad set a fair test before you judge it. A handful of clicks tells you nothing.
- Cut what’s above your EPC. If an ad set’s cost per click stays above its EPC, pause it.
- Scale the winners gradually. Raise budgets step by step and watch whether the cost per click holds.
- Use the monthly tiers. Once you pass 10 referred orders in a month, every further order that month earns 30%, and after 30 orders it’s 35%. At 35% your EPC is 40% higher than at 25% for the same traffic, so concentrated pushes around gifting dates make ads much more profitable.
Free alternatives that still work
If you’re not ready to spend, Pinterest pins, TikTok and Reels, Facebook groups and email lists all convert well for personalized gifts. Tag them with sub-IDs too, so you can compare them with paid traffic on the same dashboard.
Ad costs and results vary. Only spend what you can afford to test, and remember that Picturestees does not guarantee earnings.
