Ponies were loose in the backyard, and could come down to the water. But this farm is well out of the way, out of town, away from traffic. Everywhere else, there are fences.

So �would they run away?� � they tend to stay in familiar places. A horse you fall off of on a trail may run home, or to the trailer. Or it may run a short distance, stop and come back, or begin grazing. Horses are NOT dogs and don�t generally �heel� like a dog, or come back like one. You can train them to come when called, but often their own wishes to graze, or fear of a four fanged horse eater (plastic bags and other fun stuff) will override that.
