The forces of democratisation that engulfed Europe more and more proved untenable for the USSR, leading to all nations of the Warsaw Pact falling from communism like dominoes, and leading the USSR itself to collapse. The USA, looking to weaken Russia’s position as always, cleverly played into this by quickly establishing itself with its great soft power. This strategy didn’t take long to work for all of the Warsaw Pact states and the Baltic states.
