Step, squish, it’ll pop back up. My dog, a pit type, has battled a couple unsuccessfully. The only way to get rid of the thing is to kind of fling it away with a piece of cardboard. It might just come back though.

If you’re working for a pet sitting organization, then they should be notified for future reference of that owner and their dog. If you’re working on your own, you should be asking questions about the animals you’re going over to sit to find out if they have any issues with strangers etc. … with any animal, you do not rush in, stick out your hand and not expect them to react, you let the animal come to you. You don’t specify the circumstances of how you were bitten, only that you were meeting a new client … it sounds as though you went to the dog’s territory where it would be bolder and want to defend? The pet owner should know if their pet reacts badly to strangers, or strangers coming into their home and should have warned you if that was an issue. Rather than blame the dog, take a look at what you could have/should have done to avoid the situation.
