I’m not sure either will be desiring outright independence like the North, the Iron Islands, and probably Dorne will want, but they’ll definitely want to know what’s in it for them in this new polity. The Reach is going to be a right mess. What’s Bronn’s claim to Highgarden again? Tyrion Lannister gave it to him? What in the world are the other nobles of the Reach going to think of that? And remember, many of those lords are quite powerful in their own right. No one’s going to obey Bronn there, especially given that he helped sack Highgarden in the first place. He’d be viewed as a murderer and usurper, not as a rightful lord. On top of which, Bronn lacks any kind of loyal base of servants and henchmen. Game of Thrones shows us time and again that ancestral claims of power are important, that one needs either the loyalty that’s built into the feudal system or you need an army to enforce your claims. Bronn has neither AND he’s spending all his time in King’s Landing on the small council. No, just no. This throws away the logic that was at the heart of the way power worked in Game of Thrones.

While he’s got at least a familial claim on the throne, I can’t see him being received well by the nobles in the Stormlands. He wasn’t raised a nobleman and doesn’t know how to rule. He lacks loyal subjects and retainers just like Bronn does in Highgarden. And there’s also the fact that if he is Robert’s son…why isn’t he king again? Can legitimization be done halfway? “Oh, he’s just enough of King Robert’s son to be Lord Paramount of the Stormlands, but not enough to be considered a claimant to the throne.” It doesn’t make sense.
